What matters most to YOU?
How do you find out what’s inside yourself? Milton Erickson says “You know more than you know that you know.”
The holidays are creeping near which always makes me reflective. Since I try pretty hard to bring more balance into my life and work, the end of year is time to give myself a report card to see how I really did. Well, it was a pretty good year, I have to say.
Most of this year has been focused on downloading my awesome workshop, *The She Factor: How to Find, Catch, and Keep Your Share of the Female Market.* Funny but when I first started investigating on how women make buying decisions way differently than guys, I was flabbergasted. Then when I started getting the inkling that different buying stages relate to different chakras and colors. Well I had to wonder if I was just totally off my rocker.
But the truth is I have a deeply spiritual connection and when I allowed it to come forth it DID! (I used to be an exceptional massage therapist while I was acting, even getting to the stage where I could see auras when I did body work.)
So I held two Workshops for *The She Factor* and am 90% done with the book version. Actually the best part of this year has been LETTING GO of things and leaving space for the magic to happen.
I realized I LOVE WRITING COPY. I know that sounds crazy but after turning down many clients for the past few years in order to teach entrepreneurs how to master this skill for themselves, I felt an emptiness in not taking on more personal clients. So for the first time in quite awhile, Red Hot Copy has a few openings for copywriting.
Even though I’m very girlie, I love to play with the guys. As the only female on John Carlton’s copywriting faculty for his *Simple Writing System,* I have a great time in the faculty lounge burping and cussing like the rest of ‘em.
Plus I’ve made lifelong friends and supporters with my fabulous mastermind group. My husband and I have never connected more deeply. My kids are getting good grades and generally doing well in life. I have terrific girlfriends (even if most of them don’t understand what I do for a living.) My dog, Shadow, is the most lovable, energetic mutt on the planet and always makes me smile. I even have an understanding with my finicky cat, Hallee. I lived out my childhood dream to own a horse this year. (Actually I leased her, which is way better than owning one.)
Life is just a blessing.
How about you? What’s important in your life? Ready to find out? Here’s a little exercise I’m taking with me as a conversation starter this holiday season.
As Stephen Covey says, clarify what is most important in your life. Decide what is most worthwhile to you. Knowing what is most valuable to you gives you direction in life.
Rank each in order from 1-10 (1 being least important and 10 being most important).
This should give you a fair assessment of what your priorities are and where you want to be. Now what are you most grateful for? Make a list of 10 things and write them down. Finally don’t forget how far you’ve come. Make a list of 10 of your proudest accomplishments for this year.
If you feel so inclined, go ahead and comment here. I’d love to hear what you think.
Remember, we all have the same 24 hours. Some of us feel as though we have no time at all. While others manage to get their work done and still have enough time left over to enjoy themselves. Me? I’m a work in progress. Sometimes I get it right. Sometimes I don’t. But I’m always trying, doing the best I can. Happy holidays to you!

Lorrie -
Thank you so much for this - when I listed my 10 accomplishments, it’s clear that I’ve had probably the best year ever. I love my work, and have resurrected my own business as well, I’m living with the man of my dreams in a wonderful old house that fits our blended family of 5 BOYS!! The boys are all doing well; I’ve lost close to 30 lbs (thank you Weight Watchers) and am a fit, hot mama, I kicked antidepressants, found focus, learned how to manage my money and have ambitions. I’ve even rejoined Toastmasters coz darn it, I’m going to need those speaking skills in my future work. That’s 10!! In the last year!! Grateful, grateful, grateful.
And Lorrie, you are providing an amazing service with Red Hot Copy and the She Factor. While I wasn’t there in person this month, I’ve listened to all your audios and you’ve got one “ready to buy” fan right here.
