I really like these "25 Things..." things. I've been tagged 4 or 5 times on Facebook and really need to sit down and think really hard to come up with 25 things about me.

I used to subscribe to Lorrie Red Hot Copy newsletter, but somehow lost track, changed emails or whatever. I recently reconnected on Twitter and realized I've been missing that red head gal writing in my Inbox.

And yeah! You have a blog - I gotta go catch up on my reading to find out what I've been missing.

BTW - I love watching basketball too. I have fond memories...My first husband and I used to make out after watching the Portland Trailblazers. I've never watched hockey tho - something I should think about doing soon.

If Lorrie can come up with 25 things, then so can I. I've always been competitive with the pretty girls. Weird, huh?

1. I love my wife. She is able to annoy the crap out of me; but she is also my best friend and I trust her judgement.

2. I also secretly want to learn to play the drums.

3. I believe in karma. When someone is gushing over you, you should graciously accept it and then pass it along to someone else as soon as possible. If you refuse it or brush it aside, you break the flow of positive energy.

4. I started losing my hair at the age of 26.

5. I started out to be an actor. I was accepted into the Theatre program at NYU, but moved to California in 1979. I discovered surfing and changed my life direction.

6. I also have Morton’s toe (which means my second toe is longer than my big toe) - I just didn't know it was a condition with a name.

7. I hate when people use the word ‘seen’ when it should be ‘saw.’ Like "I seen this guy coming down the street." People say that a lot in Michigan.

8. I played football in the US Armed Forces in Europe League and was, for a short time, the starting quarterback for the Torrejon Raiders. I was replaced when I threw 6 interceptions in one game. My football career ended a few weeks later when I was hit in a 3-way tackle in practice and ended up in a coma for a few days.

9. I lived in Spain for two years while in the US Air Force.

10. I once fought a young bull in a makeshift bullring in the Spanish village of Paraquellos during their fiesta. The locals cheered when the bull chased "El Rubio" through a hole in the fence.

11. I once rode a bicycle 100 miles in one day, then rode 100 miles back the next day.

12. I played soccer in college for one season. My favorite team is Manchester United.

13. I love to watch curling on Canadian television.

14. I once took a month to drive from Michigan to San Diego. It was an adventure. As William Least Heat Moon, the author of Blue Highways once said, "Life doesn't happen along the interstates. It's against the law."

15. I lived in a luxury condominium with one of the top call girls in Vegas for nine months when I was 19 because she liked my poetry.

16. I intervened one night when a guy was about to get beat up in the parking lot of Caesar's Palace only to discover that the guy I had saved was a professional hit man named Rick and the guys who were about to beat him were mobsters. Rick still owes me one.

17. My grandfather was one of the organizers of the Sitdown Strike that led to the formation of the United Auto Workers. He was also a former bare knuckle boxing champ and taught me how to read when I was 4, even though he never finished the fourth grade himself.

18. My first stage role was as the damsel in distress in a Cub Scout play. I was 7.

19. I once got sucker punched after a performance of "Blues for Mr. Charlie" by a young black man who thought I really was the character Lyle Britten. I ended up buying him a drink.

20. I wear a size 10 shoe though I can fit in a 9 1/2 if it is wide.

21. I used to be skinny and one of the fastest sprinters in my high school. I started gaining weight at age 30 when I had my knees operated on and couldn't run anymore. I gained 35lbs in one year and haven't been able to shed it.

22. My favorite foods are Mexican and Thai.

23. I married my wife, Robin, in an authentic Hopi medicine wheel ceremony near Snowy Owl, New Mexico. A raven flew in from the north, circled over us three times, squawked and then flew off back to the north. The shaman who was presiding over the ceremony was totally geeked by the incident.

24. I talked to a ghost that lived in our house when I was 4. He was an old man who wore a blue suit and sat in a chair on the sun porch. My mother couldn't see him and told me never to tell anybody about it.

25. I have a file cabinet full of half-finished writing projects.
